‘Whose Gender Is It Anyway?’ at Leeds Pride

Friday 5th August 2016 (closed workshop in Leeds city centre)

Sunday 7th August 2016 (Visit the installation at Leeds City Museum, 11am-1pm)

'Supported by a Leeds Pride 2016 Community Grant'

‘The Cognito People’ are a small collective of young people who use art, theatre and performance to engage communities, get people talking and help create change.

This year at Leeds Pride, we are looking to support ten young people (aged between 18 and 25) who identify as trans/non-binary to share their experiences and stories through a creative workshop session. Through participating in drama activities in a safe and closed space, together we will explore the issues that matter most to you, highlight things to celebrate in the Leeds community and tell our own stories. It's also a chance to meet others with similar experiences and develop skills in drama in a supportive setting.

‘The Cognito People’ will then take  themes, issues and stories we look at in the session and anonymously incorporate them into an installation art piece which will be showcased on Sunday 7th August in Leeds City Museum, where we’ll encourage wider discussion. We’ll also be helping to take your feedback to local services and places that can help make change happen.

‘Whose Gender?’ is your chance to be part of something creative and important this Leeds Pride. Come and be a part of the conversation.
